Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; some evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required. Work is performed in a laboratory where incumbents may be exposed to odors, acids and organic solvents. Work requires minimal physical exertion; however, there may be periods of prolonged standing.

Requirements

  • Education: Have a bachelor's degree in one of the biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • OR Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience which must include at least 20 credits in one of the biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
  • PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • NOTE: YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH APPLICATION AT TIME OF APPLYING.
  • NOTE: Employees assigned to this class who analyze drinking water must successfully complete periodic lab certification performance tests administered by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
