POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Microbiology Supervisor, the Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological tests on raw material, work in progress (WIP), finished products, and environmental swabs to ensure product safety and quality per company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or a related field required
  • 4+ years of experience in a lab setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge in any area of science, particularly biology or microbiology
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to calculate test results and troubleshoot lab instrumentation and procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures precisely

  • Experience working in a lab or Quality Control environment is preferred
  • PCR experience

Responsibilities

  • Test products and environmental swabs for relevant bacteria (coliforms, E. coli, Staph, Listeria, etc.)
  • Test products for Gluten
  • Generate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) documentation
  • Perform instrument verifications and calibrations
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies
  • Validate new lab procedures
  • Verify product labels
  • Sample products, raw materials, and environmental swabs as needed
  • Work with relevant bacteria
