Q Labs is seeking a Microbiologist 1 to perform essential microbiological analyses, focusing on basic microbiological techniques such as aseptic sample preparation, sample enrichments, plating, isolation streaks, microscopy, and the use of related instruments. The role involves conducting rapid screening tests on incoming samples from food, pharmaceutical, and other sectors, ensuring that all analyses are completed in a timely and scientifically sound manner. The Microbiologist will work primarily from Tuesday to Friday, 12 PM to 9 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM, with the possibility of weekend and holiday hours as needed. In this position, the Microbiologist will be responsible for adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and prescribed methodologies while maintaining quality control records to substantiate the proper conduct of test procedures. This includes keeping accurate documentation of all test procedures and generated data in compliance with Good Documentation Practices. The role also requires active participation in protocol reviews for new studies, development of study schedules, and the acquisition of necessary laboratory materials. The Microbiologist will begin to manage small-scale projects under direction and will initiate training in project management as required. Additionally, the Microbiologist will monitor laboratory equipment, report any malfunctions to the Supervisor, and participate in proficiency testing programs. Maintaining a neat and organized laboratory environment is crucial, as is the ability to recognize and report unsafe laboratory situations. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the laboratory operations.
