As a Micro Medical Technologist, you will perform routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies. You will be responsible for organizing your workload, responding to emergency service requests, and maintaining a clean workstation. You will also demonstrate competency in all areas, including phlebotomy and processing, and adhere to hospital policies for patient safety.

Requirements

  • Registry eligible, ASCP or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of MT registry within 6 months of eligibility or hire.
  • Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered.
  • Continuing education to maintain registry/licensure is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies.
  • Knows policies, procedures and practices necessary to perform specimen processing duties.
  • Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely manner.
  • Organizes workload within the department to meet the needs of the institution within established timeframes.
  • Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any unusual findings/trends to supervisor.
  • Maintains clean workstation.
  • Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas including phlebotomy and processing and all computer related functions.
  • Performs and documents various quality control and equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
