The Micro Lab Technician is responsible for assuming all micro work is done correctly and done in a timely manner. Reporting lab results, hold and release of raw material and finished product. Make sure finished product does not exit the facility until it passes all lab work. The micro lab tech will interact with team members of all departments, including Supervisors, Managers, Plant Manager, Marketing and USDA. The incumbent is responsible to make sound decisions on matters of quality and food safety. Microbiological analysis of food products and environmental swabs. Maintain clean laboratory and workspace. Verify proper function of lab equipment. Special projects and validation studies.

Requirements

• Must pass math test with a score of 70%.
• High School Diploma or equivalent. College micro a plus. 1 yr. food Micro preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP(s), and Food Safety Principles.
• Must have excellent attendance record.

Responsibilities

• Pull Samples.
• Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental swabs using standard laboratory techniques.
• Interpret colonies on petri-film.
• Manage the hold and release of raw materials and finished products based on microbiological test results.
• Ensure that no finished product leaves the facility without passing all required microbiological tests.
• Prepare and maintain daily lab work.
• Enter data into computer.
• Ability to work independently.
• Maintain clean laboratory and workstation.
