About The Position

The Michigan Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation Intern will assist Michigan NWTF staff as well as fellow partners (Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Hal & Jean Glassen Foundation) in the performance of their job duties such as conservation and educational outreach events across the state.

Requirements

  • Have a career interest in forestry, wildlife, natural resources, education, outdoor recreation, and/or teaching.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, under a variety of conditions.
  • Able to travel, access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a natural resource related university program.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be willing and able to work in outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Attend regional meetings and training opportunities, as necessary.
  • Connect with statewide partners and collaborators for developing a Michigan R3 work plan.
  • Travel and participate in outreach and educational events across the state.
  • Assist with the safety and supervision of firearm safety at summer workshops and clinics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the planning and organization of NWTF scheduled events throughout the state.
  • Provide insight and collaboration on the brainstorming of future statewide R3 strategic efforts.
