Summary of Role: GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Engineering Technician to be a part of a MIC (Manufacturing Inline Control) team engaged in advanced technology at GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ state of the art 300 mm wafer fab (Fab 8) located in Saratoga, NY. As a MIC Maintenance technician, you will be responsible for sustaining and running the factory floor with primary responsibility for resolving equipment issues. Technician positions are hourly shift positions primarily working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing technician support across all shifts. As an Equipment Technician at Fab8, the candidate will; Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of equipment Execute maintenance and tool support ensuring equipment readiness Troubleshoot and upgrade of equipment ensuring minimize downtime Analyze and monitor technical charts Drive equipment improvement plans and projects Ensure and follow good safety practices and custody of tools, equipment and other properties Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements Work and collaborate other projects and/or assignments as needed See description for career level for general proficiency levels pertaining to Job Complexity, Accountability, Relationship Focus, and Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. Requirements

  • Education/Experience - minimum associate degree in computer science, (Mechanical-Electrical- Electronic) Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or a related discipline
  • Years of Experience: 0 years
  • Able to perform shift work on a 12 hour per day shift schedule, including night shift.
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semi-conductor protocol/requirements
  • Ability to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment for normal 12 hour per day shift (excluding breaks)
  • Ability to perform work in a standing position for majority of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues
  • Language Fluency: English (Written & Verbal)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with KLA and AMAT defect inspection and metrology platforms
  • Experience with electron or optical microscopes and optical alignment/calibration principles
  • Experience with pneumatic stages and calibration
  • Experience with network-integrated machinery or imaging systems

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Manufacturing Team to review daily goals/priorities, project status, and equipment qualification timelines.
  • Support engineering and development activities to achieve the desired manufacturing goals.
  • Learn and become a system and hardware expert on the department defect inspection and metrology equipment
  • Help establish and execute specific department plans and strategies to support the fab to achieve manufacturing metrics and Equipment Quality metrics, including cycle time, line yield and equipment efficiency and equipment-to-equipment matching.
  • Participate in a "Continuous Improvement" program and follow "Lean Manufacturing" practices in the department to improve productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Support Fab8’s efforts in building a world class organization, achieving manufacturing excellence and establishing a team based collaborative culture
  • Complete all required reporting and documentation assigned
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning and skills development strong team member, able to work well with a global team, train new team members as needed and other duties as assigned.
