About The Position

This position involves consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian on various educational aspects, including lesson plans, textbook and supplementary materials, educational goals and objectives, teaching and learning techniques, forms of assessment and evaluation of student learning, student strengths and weaknesses, interpretation of test results, planning, and record keeping. The role also requires adherence to state and federal laws, board policies, and administrative rules, maintaining a service orientation, and treating all stakeholders with professional courtesy. The Supervising Teacher will contribute as a collaborative member of the MHSAP staff, demonstrate strong communication and organization skills, effectively manage multiple projects with attention to detail, attend professional learning opportunities, acquire necessary technology skills, prepare timely reports for the Director, and engage in continuous learning and professional growth through the evaluation process. Duties are to be performed with minimal direction and supervision in an effective, positive, efficient, confidential, and trustworthy manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Valid Iowa Teaching License
  • Mandatory Reporter: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse Certification

  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to educational goals and objectives.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to teaching and learning techniques.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to forms of assessment and evaluation of student learning.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to the student's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to interpretation of test results.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to planning.
  • Consulting with and advising the student's parent, guardian, or legal or actual custodian with respect to record keeping.
  • Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, board policies, and administrative rules.
  • Maintain a "service orientation" and treat all students, parents, staff, and visitors with professional courtesy.
  • Contribute as a collaborative member of the MHSAP staff in required staff meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organization skills, and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community.
  • Demonstrate organizational and management skills needed to effectively assist with multiple projects at the same time, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Attend professional learning opportunities as needed to stay current with state and federal regulations and requirements, as well as other aspects of the job.
  • Acquire and demonstrate technology skills necessary to complete tasks associated with the position.
  • Prepare all reports required by the Director in a timely manner.
  • Make suggestions for changes and improvements to the Director.
  • Engage in the evaluation process with a focus on continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Perform duties with minimal direction and supervision in an effective, positive, efficient, confidential, and trustworthy manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
