About The Position

The MHIC Outside Sales Representative is responsible for conducting on-site residential assessments to design, price, and sell standby generator systems. This role combines technical evaluation, customer education, and consultative sales to deliver accurate estimates and close generator projects, as well as act as support to the field and office teams ensuring a seamless customer experience. The MHIC Sales Representative serves as the primary point of contact from initial site visit through contract execution.

Requirements

  • Experience in generator sales, electrical estimating, or home improvement industry
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to meet safe driving requirements under company auto insurance policy
  • Comfort working independently in residential settings
  • Must have the ability to obtain the MHIC Salesperson License for the state of MD within the first 60-days of employment. CDS will cover the cost of the exam and associated pre-approved exam preparation under a continuing education agreement.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical or generator industry background
  • Knowledge of standby generator brands (Generac, Kohler, etc.)
  • Experience with CRM systems and in-home sales processes
  • Understanding of local electrical and building codes
  • MHIC Salesperson License

Responsibilities

  • Conduct generator estimates and consultations with customers
  • Follow up on leads, estimates, and pending sales to drive close rates
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for generator products and solutions
  • Maintain regular visits to Home Depot, Costco, and Lowe’s stores
  • Support in-store associates, answer product questions, and help generate leads
  • Represent the company professionally at retail partner locations
  • Manage generator cage inventory and truck inventory
  • Ensure proper tracking of equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Monitor fleet condition and coordinate maintenance to ensure all trucks are running properly
  • Assist the service department with scheduling, coordination, and customer communication
  • Help resolve customer concerns and ensure timely service follow-ups
  • Act as a liaison between sales, service, and field teams
  • Assist with managing field operations and daily logistics
  • Communicate with technicians and installers to support job readiness
  • Help ensure jobs stay on schedule and field teams have what they need to succeed
