About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of landscape functions; acts in a lead capacity and performs other related duties as assigned. This class is the senior-level position in the housing maintenance series. Positions at this level work with minimal supervision, perform skilled-complex landscape, irrigation system and grounds maintenance tasks, and may act in a lead capacity initiating tasks with use of independent judgment. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list is intended only to illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position. Plan, prioritize and organize daily work load with or without help from Supervisor. Maintains high ethical standards while working with all internal and external customers. Take the lead to direct, train and work alongside with other Exterior Grounds Maintenance Workers. Receive and follow-up on grounds maintenance work orders; provide daily logs and weekly progress reports and other necessary documents or records as required. Use various types of hand and power tools such as saws, axes, drills, weed eaters, blowers, shovels, rakes, and hoes. Responsible for keeping inventory of equipment and program vehicles and make recommendations for repair, replacement, maintenance and services. Clear and remove brush and blackberries around MHA houses and government buildings. Also clear brush and berry bushes from property lines, houses, outbuildings, woodsheds, generators and HVAC equipment. Responsible for service and repairs of irrigation systems and regulate irrigation timers. Maintain safely mulch within kids parks and monitor park equipment for necessary repairs. Sweep and clean exterior of MHA communities, and roads, yard perimeters and parks areas as requested. Weed, mulch and maintain all flower and landscape beds. Responds to calls as needed for emergency repairs to irrigation system and maintenance because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular job responsibilities. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of related work experience in grounds maintenance and/or repair.
