The position involves providing patient meal service and maintaining cleanliness in all areas supporting meal service at Brown University Health. Requirements

  • Able to understand and follow instructions.
  • Read English.
  • Work on feet for long periods of time.
  • Be courteous with all customer groups.
  • Previous food service experience.
  • Cooperative in interactions, treating customers with courtesy, respect, and compassion.
  • Patient when responding to questions and answers.
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Handle interruptions skillfully.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Strive to prevent/resolve customer concerns to satisfaction.
  • Responsible for ongoing development of work skills through available resources.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and inservices.
  • Assist in the orientation of others and participate in mentoring.
  • Perform analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision.
  • Seek assistance/consultation when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assemble, distribute, and collect patient trays.
  • Collect patient trays at the appropriate time and in an efficient manner.
  • Clean all wares used for meal service.
  • Clean all equipment used for meal service.
  • Clean dish machine, dish room, and equipment appropriately.
  • Respond to patient requests in a timely manner.
  • Pass patient trays in a correct and courteous manner.
  • Handle food safely, maintaining temperatures and using barriers as per HACCP plan.
  • Strip trays per procedure and in a timely manner.
  • Complete work assignments within an acceptable time frame.
  • Use time and resources effectively for successful job completion.
  • Develop and maintain efficient working relationships.
  • Be reliable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Recognize the importance of teamwork and partner with others for positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to team efforts to ensure quality services.
  • Offer creative solutions to issues or concerns.
  • Produce quality results and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Accept responsibility for work performed and take corrective action as needed.
