About The Position

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. Summary The Assistant Manager of Transmission Engineering Customers Team is responsible for the oversight and execution of Line or Station engineering deliverables. This includes the execution of line or station project designs, customer-facing communications and engineering solutions as needed in support of Transmission Services, oversight of contract resources, internal process development and controls, reporting, and mentorship and development of line or station engineering staff. This is a developmental position.

  • Applicant must be technically strong to provide direct support to the field organizations and to direct the actions of others in supporting the field organization in restoring service outages caused by equipment failures, weather, mis-operations, and human errors.

  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain control processes.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a similar technical field (Construction or Construction Management) is required.
  • Five years of related design, operations, planning, or construction experience is required.
  • Knowledge of transmission line/switching station/substation design, construction, transmission project life cycle, and operations issues is required.
  • Knowledge of codes, regulations, and requirements applicable to transmission line design and construction is required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs internal employees and external consulting engineers on transmission projects to ensure both technical and analytical deliverables are completed.
  • Evaluates priorities and risks and directs corrective actions to ensure engineering resource load levels, project in-service dates, and budget levels are met.
  • Develops internal and external resource strategies to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Develops processes to track project close-out activities and to confirm completion in a timely manner.
  • Manages engineering deliverable dates to ensure changes are appropriately communicated with stakeholders and contractual dates can be met.
  • Develops and implements training programs for employees.
  • Provides for employee development through professional training and cross training within the company and continually seeks out opportunities to allow employees to broaden their experience.
  • Ensures proper equipment and materials are ordered and delivered to meet project in service dates.
  • Directs the requisitioning of equipment, participates in vendor agreements and problem resolutions, and monitors and evaluates changes in available equipment and materials.
  • Manages responses to financial reporting requests from other organizations as requested
  • Directs safety awareness programs and creates a culture committed to safe work practices
  • Contributes to the development and creation of engineering and construction standards to provide for safe, uniform design and construction practices while addressing new system needs.
  • Contributes to discussions and engineering solutions with Transmission Services Consultants and project engineers
  • Participates in Customer-facing meetings as needed to support project development and execution
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
