Requirements

  • Two years of sterile processing and distribution experience and two years of demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Responsibilities

  • Develops specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Collects and reports on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement.
  • Works collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
  • May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.
  • Monitors quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities.
  • Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
