About The Position

The Manager of Release of Information (ROI) oversees the centralized system-wide processes within the Health Information Management (HIM) Department at Hartford HealthCare. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA and other regulations while serving as a key contact for regulatory and payer audits. The manager is responsible for maintaining quality customer service and monitoring payment protocols, as well as leading a team to enhance productivity and compliance in the release of medical records.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or Technology (minimum).
  • 1-2 years management experience in a healthcare setting (minimum).
  • Knowledge of release of information regulations, both Federal and State (minimum).
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technology) certification (minimum).

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Health Information Management (preferred).
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding regulatory audits (preferred).
  • Experience with Epic HIM modules (preferred).
  • 2-3 years' experience in Health Information (preferred).
  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the centralized ROI processes ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Monitor special requests and ensure timely processing of medical records for priority requestors.
  • Provide performance feedback, orientation, and training for new employees in the ROI team.
  • Manage workflow among employees to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain strong working relationships with leadership.
  • Promote change management and strive to improve the quality and productivity of the ROI Unit.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and monitor activity in the correspondence tracker.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Cobius software and train staff on its use.
