About The Position

The RDC Planning Manager is responsible for leading the distribution center’s planning and scheduling functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. This role oversees labor planning, inventory flow, inbound and outbound scheduling, and capacity management to support operational excellence, service level commitments, and financial targets. The Planning Manager partners with operations, transportation, supply chain, and customer service teams to balance demand and capacity while driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in operations or logistics required; and 3+ years of experience at a leadership level with similar responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of labor management, forecasting, and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), LMS (Labor Management Systems), and advanced Excel; experience with planning/forecasting tools preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to respond to customer or carrier requests in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain short- and long-term labor and capacity plans to support volume forecasts and service requirements.
  • Lead inbound and outbound scheduling processes to ensure timely product flow and balanced workload across shifts and departments.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and replenishment teams to optimize storage and throughput.
  • Partner with operations leaders to align staffing levels with operations needs, minimizing overtime and underutilization.
  • Analyze historical trends, forecast data, and operational KPIs to identify risks, constraints, and opportunities for efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning, scheduling, and forecasting processes to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with transportation partners to coordinate dock capacity and trailer scheduling.
  • Provide regular reporting on labor performance, capacity utilization, and service metrics.
  • Manage, develop, and coach planning team members to ensure accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
