About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading production operations to ensure contractual commitments are met while driving operational excellence, efficiency, and profitability. This role oversees multiple production areas through a team of production supervisors and plays a critical role in advancing compliance standards for defense-related manufacturing. The position requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive performance in a dynamic, high-mix, low-volume environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Eight plus years of related work experience
  • Strong background in defense manufacturing with working knowledge of ITAR and export control requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of production supervisors, overseeing approximately 60–70 indirect reports across multiple production lines
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient production that meets delivery commitments and cost targets
  • Drive performance across key metrics including safety, quality, delivery, labor efficiency, and overall throughput
  • Oversee production of defense-related products, ensuring adherence to ITAR, export controls, and all applicable compliance requirements
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing engineering, project management, and supply chain to resolve production issues and improve processes
  • Support and influence production scheduling, material flow, and inventory management to optimize operational performance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce inefficiencies, and improve overall manufacturing processes
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture that encourages problem solving, accountability, and cross-functional engagement
  • Participate in union-related activities including grievance resolution and disciplinary processes in alignment with labor agreements
  • Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure operations remain within financial targets
  • Support organizational changes and transformation efforts related to defense manufacturing and compliance readiness
