POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Quality Improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the nursing staff assigned to his/her unit. Requirements

Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida
Current CPR or BLS certification.
Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation is preferred.
Experience with behavioral health patient is preferred.
Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial.
Familiarity with older adult care practices is advantageous.
Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.

Nice To Haves

Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+.
Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Ensures adequate staffing on the unit to meet patient demand and adjusts accordingly as needed.
Communicates effectively with physicians and resolves unit issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Manages unit FTEs and overtime with regard to budget; understands financial impact to facility goals.
Exemplary communication skills.
Understands, follows, and supports risk management and infection control policies and procedures.
Intervenes appropriately in crisis situations.
Conducts ad hoc treatment team as needed.
Monitors treatment plans for completion and accuracy.
Attends treatment team meetings as needed.
