About The Position

UNM-Taos is excited to announce an external competitive search for a Manager Library Operations. The University of New Mexico, Taos Library, invites applications for a full-time position that is onsite at the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus. Salary is $61,131.20-$71,406.40 annually. Under the general supervision of the Dean of Instruction, the Manager Library Operations provides leadership for the development, assessment, administration and oversight of all library services, including, but not limited to: public and technical services (including all original cataloging and direct oversight of copy cataloging activities), facilities, equipment needs, library budget planning, collection development, library instruction and faculty outreach, acquisitions, student technology lending program, and computer operations. Supervises and evaluates full-time/part-time library staff. Represents the UNM-Taos Campus Library on various campus and state committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Library Science (or related degree) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with library staff, faculty, students and administrators.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in scholarly communication, pedagogy, and librarianship such as copyright, plagiarism, intellectual freedom, technology issues and assessment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies and their application to libraries.
  • Experience with integrated library systems, e.g., III Millennium, WMS, OCLC Connexion, etc.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspect of the day-to-day library operations in a collaborative environment.
  • Serves as an advocate for the Library and promotes its services and resources.
  • Develops, maintains and oversees department budget/procurement/resources according to University Policy.
  • Formulates and executes library policies and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Supervises the staff within the Library (includes work allocation and scheduling, professional development, performance evaluation and makes recommendation for personnel actions).
  • Encourages and promotes the development of staff members within the library.
  • May review, evaluate and select library materials in areas of expertise for library collection development, and may serve as a liaison to teaching faculty.
  • Maintains databases and library data/statistics.
  • Facilitates the implementation of software platform configuration and settings, as well as additional non-programming implementation tasks.
  • Maintains library databases and licenses.
  • Serves as the representative for the University for all library related initiatives internally and externally for the campus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the University Mission and Vision.
