Position in this function manages infusion pharmacy operations including personnel management at designated location. Responsible for: achievement of customer service, clinical initiative objectives, financial objectives, and regulatory compliance; adherence to professional practices and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC) and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures; and management of all assigned personnel including pharmacists, technicians, support personnel and students. The Manager of Infusion Pharmacy will perform chemotherapy and sterile product admixture for the clinic departments. The infusion pharmacist will work closely with the physician team in monitoring patients on therapy specifically chemotherapy. They will be required to know oncology protocols and be responsible for verifying orders per protocols. Manages pharmacy prepared infusion medications administered in the clinic including accurate and complete charge capture. Responsible for achievement of customer service and financial objectives; adherence to professional practices and Kelsey-Seybold policies and procedures: and management of all assigned personnel including students. Manages inventory and overall cost-of-service provisions. Performs all of a registered pharmacist including accurate dispensing and counseling of prescriptions to customers and distribution of clinic use pharmaceuticals. Requirements

  • Graduate from School of Pharmacy
  • Texas license Registered Pharmacist
  • Sterile products IV Certified
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • 2+ years of hospital/infusion pharmacy experience
  • Experience with aseptic techniques
  • Knowledge of regulations and requirements pertaining to sterile compounding and handling of hazardous drugs, including USP chapters 797 and 800
  • Proven ability to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, and inform and train about policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to communicate with physicians and other allied health professionals regarding patient care issues
  • Proven ability to communicate with customer and in clinic patients to handle complaints and problems, assist with questions, and recommend products/recommendations
  • Proven to operate computer terminal for infusion preparations
  • Proven to add. Subtract, multiply, and divide whole number and decimals to calculate infusion preparation dosages
  • Stress Tolerance – Proven to accurately prepare infusion medication within the required amount of time
  • Proven professional appearance

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Proven solid chemotherapy and oncology background.
  • KSC experience.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Board Certification in Oncology or Sterile Products
  • Proven to write reports (i.e., weekly/monthly) pertaining to accident/injury, maintain logs, necessary infusion records
  • Proven excellent people management skills
