The Mgr-Fleet Maintenance position at FedEx involves managing fleet maintenance personnel and ensuring equipment readiness at a large FedEx Freight shop location. The role focuses on leading and developing employees, overseeing equipment repairs, and maintaining operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Manage fleet maintenance personnel and activities.
  • Ensure equipment repairs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide corrective action.
  • Plan daily staffing to meet workload demands.
  • Support the Operations team regarding equipment-related issues.
  • Monitor and analyze opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Perform administrative functions including payroll approval and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure clean and safe working conditions of the facility and equipment.
  • Communicate with Fleet Maintenance leadership to meet operational needs.
  • Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with employees and weekly meetings with the Operations team.
  • Collaborate with Safety and other departments to investigate safety and accident-related matters.
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Three years of vehicle maintenance experience, including at least one year in a team lead/supervisory/management role.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission truck.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiating, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Multi-task oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office and Internet skills.
