About The Position

Position Summary: The Manager of Fiscal and Business Administration supports financial operations and administrative services for the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology at the University of South Florida. Reporting to the Department Administrator, this role supervises fiscal staff, manages budgeting and compliance functions, and supports departmental operations through strategic financial oversight, process improvement, and coordination of payroll, procurement, and special projections. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Hire, train, motivate, and coach the performance of assigned staff members to meet the administrative goals and compliance requirements of the Department. Review and monitor budget records assigned to you. Prepare projections and compile reports as requested by Department leadership. Fulfill the purchasing and procurement requirements for the Department. Develop and implement business and fiscal processes to ensure compliance and good stewardship over University resources. Must remain up-to-date with changes in University, state, federal or sponsoring agency policies and regulations. Complete RSA checks before every pay period to ensure the correct use of funds for payroll. Ensure timely and accurate administration of payroll, timesheets, certifications, leave administration, etc. Manager special projects and analysis work, such as new faculty moves, reorganizations, and specialized research related tasks assigned to the Department. Advise the Unit Research Administrator on issues related to hiring needs, rate planning, salary increases, promotions, and routine terminations. Additional tasks may be assigned as needs are identified.

Requirements

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position’s specific responsibilities and four years of professional business experience; or a Master’s degree in the same fields and two years of experience.
  • Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
  • The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
  • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree; (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree; (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
  • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
