About The Position

This position is intended for the Power Distribution Systems group within Department E50. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team that focuses on the design, development, and maintenance of valve actuators and controllers, pressurizer heater distribution panels, and associated cables. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with obsolescent management, component development, and component qualification. This will enable them to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with obsolete components, develop and implement effective component development strategies, and ensure that all components meet the required standards and specifications. In addition to technical expertise, the supervisor will be required to communicate regularly with a range of stakeholders, including the NAVY, construction teams, and vendors. This will involve coordinating project activities, resolving technical issues, and ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned with project goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
  • Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
