About The Position

Responsible for the planning, scheduling, and managing work programs and activities required to operate and maintain the Authorities' life safety and operation critical electrical power systems, such as traction power, emergency power, auxiliary power, and lighting. Establishes and improves the maintenance management process within the office as it relates to the Departmental and Division goals. Responsible for developing and maintaining a cohesive organization, which includes employee safety, training and discipline. Responsible for staffing and resources to ensure the mission of the office is accomplished. Responsible for long range planning of capital improvement (equipment replacement) projects for the office and the Authority.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of eight years progressive supervisory experience in electrical power systems and equipment maintenance management.
  • Must have the ability to methodically and systematically troubleshoot electrical systems during revenue operations without compromising the safety or efficiency of transit operations, to manually operate the electrical system during revenue operation without adversely impacting revenue service, to use independent judgment within established guidelines during abnormal occurrences and to use applicable tools and test equipment.
  • Must be able to read and understand complex technical documents, schematics, manuals, prints, tests procedures, etc., associated with the electrical system.
  • Must be able to inspect and co-ordinate maintenance work of other EP&E maintenance personnel to verify compliance to MARTA rules, standards, and instructions, and communicate technical instruction and information clearly and legibly.
  • Must have knowledge in Regulatory Codes and Standards with specific experience in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Testing Association ( NETA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American National Standards Association (ANSI) and Occupational Safety And Health Administration (OSHA) standards to ensure compliance and safety of the Authority personnel and assets.
  • In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formalized electronic and/or electrical technician training program preferred.
  • Professional Engineers License and/or Unrestricted Electrical license is preferred but not required.
