About The Position

The Manager, Data Science and Analytics will proactively leverage data to support and optimize the business strategy, with a primary emphasis on Procurement, to achieve both short-term and long-term goals and support Daikin’s operations as a manufacturer of commercial and residential HVAC equipment. This role involves managing and developing Data Scientists/Engineers, ensuring effective data storytelling across the enterprise to influence business strategy across various departments including Procurement, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance / Sales Planning, IT, Logistics, Motili, and other third-party vendors. Key responsibilities include creating and implementing comprehensive data strategies for data warehousing, advanced data modeling (using traditional statistical/regression and advanced AI/ML for predictive and prescriptive modeling), and data visualization to communicate insights to stakeholders and drive business outcomes. The position also encompasses project management, including backlog management, strategic prioritization, and quality assurance of data requests and project deliverables. The manager will be responsible for measuring team performance, architecting and integrating the data technology stack, analyzing marketing technology platforms for customer journey insights, and designing internal workflows for data governance, security, and privacy. Furthermore, the role involves training Procurement staff on analytics interpretation and fostering a data-driven culture, acting as a 'center of excellence' for data science principles across Procurement teams, and providing ad hoc data science support to enterprise leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration or Project Management.
  • Three (3) years of experience in supply chain/procurement and project management in the HVAC industry.
  • Three (3) years of experience solving complex business problems involving a heavy amount of analytics/data science.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively leverage data to support and optimize the business strategy with emphasis on Procurement to achieve short-term and long-term goals and support Daikin’s operations as a manufacturer of commercial and residential HVAC equipment.
  • Manage day-to-day work of Data Scientists/Engineers and ensure growth through coaching and development to deliver effective storytelling across the enterprise and influence business strategy across Procurement, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance / Sales Planning, IT, Logistics, Motili, and other third-party vendors as needed.
  • Create a data strategy to measure and optimize the data insights and analytics to meet short- and long-term goals including Company Annual and Fusion Goals.
  • Responsible for Data warehousing strategy by defining how Daikin can capture all relevant data points and organize effectively for downstream analysis and ensure Daikin has the right architecture in place for future state initiatives.
  • Develop the data modeling strategy by defining how Daikin ingests data points and convert them into insights via advanced modeling techniques (traditional statistical/regression and advanced AI/ML to drive predictive and prescriptive modeling).
  • Develop the data visualization strategy by defining how Daikin communicates and presents insights to relevant stakeholders across the company via different platforms, to inform business action to drive business outcomes.
  • Responsible for project management including but not limited to Backlog management & Strategic priorities by reviewing requests and assign, block, or backlog according to the strategy or priority and Quality assurance by reviewing/verifying data quality associated with data requests and projects.
  • Review all Project deliverables and provide feedback for improvement on Project Deliverables based on customer feedback and Best Practices.
  • Measure data science team performance to KPIs through a scorecard.
  • Architect, research, optimize and integrate data tech stack in service of the strategy.
  • Analyze and integrate marketing technology platforms/systems to gather the data to understand the customer journey.
  • Design and manage internal workflows and processes required to run and maintain elements of data strategy/platforms, including governance required to ensure data security and privacy concerning PII management.
  • Train and support Procurement staff on interpreting results of analytics and leading data culture change.
  • Provide internal counsel re: how to apply data science principles across Procurement teams, including content, creative, communications, KPI’s development dev engineers, data analytics (i.e., acting as “center of excellence” for data discipline).
  • Provide data science support and ad hoc analysis to enterprise leadership as needed.
