About The Position

Quail Surgical and Pain Management Center in Reno, Nevada, is an outpatient surgical center dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. Established by a group of community physicians, the goals of the founding physicians have not changed since they were established in 1999. These goals focus on: Streamlining the delivery of medical care so it is patient-centered to provide the highest quality services. Making the outpatient surgery experience less anxiety producing. Utilizing the most cost-effective measures for the patient and the healthcare delivery system so we can provide safe and affordable quality care. Providing an environment which is aesthetically pleasing for the patient, physician and employee that promotes patient friendliness. Reducing the risk of infection for our patients by always adhering to the most current safety standards in the industry. The nurses at Quail Surgery Center are here for you. Starting when you enter into our pre-operative area until you are discharged from recovery, the nurses are here to provide for your comfort, safety and privacy. Since many of our nurses have been caring for our patients for 10 years or more, they understand you may have questions and are here to provide you answers. This Business Office Manager opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule. This individual is accountable and responsible for overseeing the Business Office operations of the Surgery Center. The scope of responsibility includes but is not limited to: coding, insurance and patient billings, collections, cash management, Accounts Receivable management, and management of the business office staff. The Business Office Manager is required to participate in special projects and committees at the direction of the Administrator. The Business Office Manager reports directly to the Administrator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Three years of supervisory experience in a surgery center or large physician practice can be substituted for a degree).
  • Certified coding certificate (Three years of extensive coding experience in a surgery center or large physician office can be substituted for a certificate).
  • Extensive experience in managing and overseeing all aspects of the Business Office.
  • Experience with accrediting agencies and state regulations.
  • May act as the Administrator when he/her absence.
  • Proven abilities to work professionally with doctor offices and their staff.
  • Experience in contracting and knowledge of payor contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Manages business office personnel and delegates duties to ensure the efficient operation of the business office.
  • Monitors cases scheduled so as to ensure compliance with the approved procedure list approved by the Clinical Review Committee.
  • Enforces systems which facilitate the timely and accurate registration of patients to the facility, and which ensure efficient patient flow from the waiting area to the pre-operative area.
  • Oversees the coding of procedures performed in the surgery center and ensures that the coding practices of the surgery center are in compliance with HCFA/Medicare and other third party payor regulations.
  • Conducts quarterly chart audits to ensure correct coding and billing practices.
