About The Position

We are seeking a highly meticulous CMM Technician to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the automated inspection of high-precision, fragile optical assemblies. Operating within a Class 6 Cleanroom, you will utilize Zeiss CMM hardware and software to ensure all components meet stringent specifications. The ideal candidate possesses a "quality-first" mindset, demonstrating extreme care when handling delicate glass and coated surfaces where even microscopic contamination or contact errors can result in significant losses. Requirements

  • Technical Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating CMMs (Zeiss/Calypso experience strongly preferred).
  • GD&T Proficiency: Deep understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards, including position, profile, and runout tolerances.
  • Cleanroom Familiarity: Proven experience working in a controlled environment (ISO Class 6 / Class 1,000 or cleaner).
  • Handling Skills: Demonstrated ability to work with fragile materials (glass, ceramics, or thin-gauge metals).
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical certification or Associate’s degree in Metrology, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and patience.
  • Ability to remain standing or sitting for extended periods in full cleanroom attire (bunny suit, mask, gloves).
  • Fine motor skills for handling small, delicate components and stylus configurations.

Responsibilities

  • CMM Operation & Programming: Setup and operate Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software to perform complex dimensional inspections.
  • Cleanroom Protocol: Maintain strict adherence to Class 6 cleanroom standards, including proper gowning, material "wipe-down" procedures, and environmental monitoring.
  • Fragile Handling: Execute manual loading and unloading of sensitive optical housings and assemblies on tools or gloved handling techniques to prevent scratches or chips.
  • Data Analysis: Interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) blueprints to verify part compliance; generate and archive detailed inspection reports.
  • Maintenance: Perform daily probe calibrations and routine "styli" cleaning to ensure measurement repeatability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing engineers to troubleshoot out-of-tolerance conditions and suggest fixturing improvements.
