About the position

The Sr Manager Performance Improvement is responsible for leading and sustaining the manufacturing plant's continuous improvement culture while partnering with cross-functional leadership and team members to reach targeted business and operational goals through Lean and Six Sigma techniques. The focus as a continuous improvement leader is to train, coach, and mentor team members and co-workers on a range of skills from tactical improvement techniques to overall strategy. This role oversees the Performance Improvement (PI) team, coaches, trains, and evaluates staff to drive a culture of empowerment and capabilities. The manager is responsible for developing the plant strategy for the long-term vision in delivering manufacturing excellence results and for performance data analytics and benchmarking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Continuous Improvement transformation of the plant in alignment with the corporate CI program.
  • Develop and update CI training materials and provide formal and informal lean training (six sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Supervise the Performance department team and provide ongoing coaching, support, training, and development.
  • Lead cross-functional implementation teams utilizing Six Sigma and lean manufacturing tools in executing Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Determine financial impact of process improvements.
  • Lead and support project teams to solve complex problems.
  • Identify and lead Continuous Improvement opportunities, define scope, and project goals.
  • Communicate project objectives and metrics, resolve barriers, and monitor lean initiatives.
  • Coordinate and/or execute specific skill training for management teams in cooperation with HR.
  • Develop a CI roadmap/master plan annually for the entire facility and assist in execution.
  • Collaborate with regional/network and local CI Managers from other plants to communicate global benchmarking methodology.
  • Ensure technical excellence and consistent approach with common language and toolsets.
  • Develop a strong technical network with engineers and technicians in/out of the plant.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks and projects as outlined by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on maintenance and reliability.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing maintenance teams.
  • Strong understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), lubrication best practices, stockroom management principles, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience with implementing and sustaining Autonomous Maintenance (AM) programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar certification preferred.
