Valpak is in search of a dynamic printing supervisor for our Manufacturing Center in St. Petersburg. Valpak has grown more than 40% in the last three years and is poised for continued growth for the foreseeable future. The printing supervisor will be accountable for leading the production activities with their department and responsible for overall performance of the manufacturing cell including equipment operation, staffing, quality, cost, delivery, safety, continuous process improvement and training.

  • Oversees departmental staffing, scheduling, development and coaching, performance review, planning for continuous improvement within the designated cell, and input to the budgeting process.
  • Participates in interview and selection process for the cell and/or job family, collaborates with interview team members to select candidates based on specific knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors.
  • Develops and coaches individuals to support the process and to support operational objectives, strategic goals and individual career goals.
  • Leads and monitors progression to ensure skill development.
  • Develops and manages staffing schedules that support operational requirements to deliver material requirements that meet or exceed defined production goals.
  • Communicates with previous and next shift Process Leads to maintain smooth shift transition related to operational status and work in process.
  • Communicates appropriately to create understanding of how daily activities link to operational goals and strategies.
  • Partners with Process Manager for the designated family to maintain his/her own self development.
  • Accountable for personal continuous learning through participation in routine and complex problem-solving activities related to the process or equipment in the designated job family.
  • Collecting production data to evaluate technician's progress or shortfalls.
  • Promotes an Organizational Culture that drives continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives, upward feedback and leading by example as a key strength to the business needs.
  • Accomplishes duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe conditions.
  • Assist with development of WI's and JA's to assist in the training and development of all employees within the family/cell.
  • Responsible for opening Kodak equipment notifications and communicating with the Kodak team to troubleshoot prepress equipment.
  • Inspect and sign off on color OK's for specialty jobs and monitor the quality of said jobs.
  • Focus on CPI to reduce waste in all areas.
  • Must be flexible to change.
  • Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.
  • Five years related experience with two of the five years in a supervisor, lead or senior process technician role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of printing equipment (Heatset).
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with SAP.
  • Work in a team environment and effectively lead and train others.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions.
  • Valid driver's license required or eligible to get a valid Florida state driver's license.
  • Work in a noisy area using hearing protection.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40#.
  • Strong organizational and team leading skills are desired.
