About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor supports daily production operations by overseeing activities, guiding personnel, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. The role involves assisting with operator training, demonstrating strong operational knowledge, and serving as a positive example. Work is performed under close supervision, following defined procedures, and involves solving problems of limited scope.Position Authority: This position has the authority to stop production at various workstations if there is question or concern about the acceptability of materials, assemblies or processes that affect the quality or safety of Viant products.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledgeable of standard office computer software such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Able to communicate problems to effect corrective action.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes and methods.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the product and process flow for assigned work area(s).
  • Qualified to operate equipment in assigned work area, if necessary.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes, methods, and work assignments.
  • Demonstrates ability to train other operators.

Responsibilities

  • Performs setup, start-up, and documentation of injection molding machines in accordance with established standards.
  • Installs and removes molds based on production schedules and priorities, applying SMED principles.
  • Monitors processes, makes necessary adjustments, and identifies root causes of machine alarms.
  • Ensures proper configuration and operation of all secondary equipment.
  • Supports manufacturing and engineering teams with process validations and problem‑solving while ensuring compliance with the Quality System.
  • Supervises and coordinates personnel involved in molding operations and manages machine repairs when required.
  • Ensures the shift meets KPI goals related to safety, quality, production, delivery, and culture.
  • Plans shift tasks, coordinates workflow, promotes teamwork, and completes assigned standard work.
  • Ensures compliance with quality and production standards, monitors shift performance, and reports accurate data.
  • Supports the supervisor with HR responsibilities, including training, performance evaluations, discipline, and problem resolution.
