As a member of the Varsity Yearbook Kansas City Yearbook team, the Mezz Operator will operate equipment at established speed, using established methods to produce binding, meeting customers' reasonable expectations.

  • Follows all verbal instructions of Bindery Supervisor and machine operator.
  • Works at a fast pace to keep up with the speed of the machine.
  • Performs all needed handwork.
  • Inspects work after completion.
  • Operates collator and/or liner and puts away bundles on mezz.
  • 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of company policies as posted in the Employee Handbook.
  • Awareness of and adherence to Safety programs and rules - departmental and plant wide.
  • Must be able to work all hours needed, including overtime and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • HS Diploma or GED (required).
  • Experience working in a high-volume shipping dock.
  • Able to cooperate and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain perfect attendance.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous related experience.
  • Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on-time record.
