This position will support all calibration activities at both Kearny Mesa and Harbor drive supporting both Development Test and Production Test. This will be a 2nd shift position with some schedule flexibility required as needed. Calibrate portable and permanently installed electronic test equipment and automated data acquisition systems using approved technical manuals, standards, and procedures. Prepare preliminary calibration data analysis/reports to Metrology Lab management and/or engineers. Support Test Systems which perform steady-state and transient measurements of pulse, flow, force, power, speed, temperature, and vibration. Perform complex testing, calibration, and repair of automated and manual electrical, mechanical, dimensional, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating equipment. Diagnose and correct malfunctioning test equipment (Pressure and Electrical) and systems such as power supplies, vibration monitors and simulators, vibration sensors, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, function generators, voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, transmitters, flowmeters, signal conditioners and A/D converters through repair, replacement and adjustment to restore equipment and systems to required specifications. Diagnose and correct malfunctioning test equipment and systems such as load cells, pressure equipment, flow meters, digital flow meters, Pressure Measurement Modules, flow transducers and pressure transducers through repair, replacement and adjustment to restore equipment and systems to required specifications. Fabricate, install, test, repair and/or modify electronic test equipment and systems by interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams, following oral or written technical instructions guided by trade practices, manufacturing and underwriters specifications, state and municipal codes, ordinances, and engineering directions while applying a thorough knowledge of instrumentation and electronic theory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairing test equipment
  • Minimum of 3 years mechanical or electrical-related experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Proactive problem-solving skills required to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with Fluke Calibrator Standard equipment such as 6270A
  • Related Metrology Lab experience with exposure to (but not limited to): resistance, voltage, current, vibration, temperature, frequency, flow, and pressure.
  • Technical college or trade school
  • Military electrical or electronic training
  • Understanding of error analysis, uncertainty methods/calculations, statistical and quality control methods, and ISO requirements.
