Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Seven (7) years experience in a metrology laboratory.
  • Basic math and science skills are required, including calculations with fractions, ratios, decimals, scientific notation; some college chemistry and physics beneficial.
  • Understanding of operating principles of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) and calibration standards.
  • Successful completion of Job Qualification cards (JQC's) or On The Job (OTJ) training in specific areas of the lab.
  • Understanding of physical and relational principles behind the operation of measurement devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the calibration of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE).
  • Provide Metrology consulting services to all departments.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation for measurement problems to all Metrology Lab disciplines.
  • Perform research necessary to establish calibration methods for new devices.
  • Provide direction and problem resolution to Metrology Technicians.
  • Identify input on needed revisions and review proposed revisions to M&TE calibration procedures.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) using advanced Metrology principles and laboratory calibration standards.
  • Perform calibration and repair of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) and ensure that calibrations are documented in accordance with required procedures and regulations.
  • Perform receipt inspections of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE), verifying that the certifications and calibrations provided by the vendor meet the requirements of the Purchase Order.
  • Study technical manuals, contact equipment vendors, and perform other research as necessary to develop and approve M&TE calibration procedures and instructions.
  • Assist M&TE users in specifying and determining the proper M&TE to perform testing on plant equipment.
  • Provide technical consultation and training to Calibration Technician in Training and the Calibration Technician I.
  • Perform Out of Tolerance evaluations for impact on M&TE calibrated using a Calibration Standard found to be Out of Tolerance when re-calibrated.
  • Participate in required training.
