About The Position

Bowhead seeks a Metrology Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN. The Metrology Engineer will provide technical and engineering support services to the Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control Division.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering
• Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience, however additional experience may be substituted for formal education for highly qualified candidates
• Substantial experience in metrology science and calibration
• Sufficient hardware experience to identify and solve hardware problems associated with design, development, and integration of high reliability systems
• Some software experience is preferred
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Perform duties with minimal supervision and management intervention
• Review specifications for test, measurement and diagnostics equipment
• Identify TMDE measurements, calculate test accuracy ratios, provide a Calibration Measurement Report to document technical requirements and analysis
• Conduct research on TMDE, identify obsolete TMDE and provide recommendations to replace obsolete TMDE
• Determine whether TMDE is supported by the Navy Metrology and Calibration Program; coordinate and communicate with NSWC Crane, NSWC Corona and customers on workload assigned
• Create data records to support technical analysis/reviews
• Other duties as assigned
