Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Metrology Calibration Electronics Technician to support the Navy Calibration Laboratory at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The purpose of this position is to ensure that military equipment and measurement systems are accurate by inspecting, testing, and calibrating a wide range of instruments and standards. This role involves understanding metrology principles, repairing and adjusting equipment, and following strict procedures to maintain measurement accuracy withing the Navy's Metrology and Calibration METCAL program, which is critical for naval readiness and weapons systems performance. This work is vital for the reliability for tools, from simple instruments to complex systems on ships and aircraft.

  • Calibrations and Maintenance: Perform calibrations, tests, and maintenance of precise measuring instruments and electrical/electronic test equipment to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Inspection: Inspect manufactured parts and samples using specialized tools to ensure they conform to specifications and blueprints.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on instruments.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues with calibration equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Operation: Preparing and operation test equipment and following established processes and procedures.
  • Repair: Make necessary repairs to measurement devices and order replacement parts when needed.
  • Data analysis and documentation: Analyze measurement data and maintain accurate records of all results and calibrations. Recording problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level. Prepares test reports.
  • Quality assurance: Support quality control by verify compliance with Navy's METCAL standards.

  • A Technical or Scientific AS or AA degree is required. ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of recent and relevant experience
  • At least six (6) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category description. Four (4) years of experience in installation of hardware and/or equipment. One (1) year of experience in design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Experience may be concurrent.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Former Navy and USMC Electronic Technician (ET) - E-4 and above experience preferred.
  • Familiar with the Navy's METCAL program preferred.
  • Familiar with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) preferred.
