About The Position

The Metro Sales Manager is responsible for supervising the branch sales department employees, increasing market share in their assigned territory, managing financial performance of the branch, ensuring that customer needs are met and fulfilling any additional duties assigned by Regional or Corporate Management.

  • At least five years of Management experience in the Heavy Equipment Industry or any equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, and abilities that enables the individual to perform the primary duties of the position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license without restrictions.

  • College degree preferred, with undergraduate coursework in business, marketing, finance, or related field. 

Responsibilities

  • Implement Murphy sales strategy, territory coverage strategy, and account management practices to grow the business.
  • Supervise and direct TSM and CESM, including call activity, quoting, the sales process and subsequent delivery.
  • Increase market share in Deere, C&F, CCE, and Allied product lines in the branch assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR) according to company goals.
  • Review market share information monthly with branch TSMs and CESMs and adjust as needed.
  • Primary responsibility for recruiting and training new Sales personnel.
  • Locate equipment needed for rentals and sales within Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co., Inc.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to ensure customer satisfaction with fair and equitable share of responsibility.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve any concerns.
  • Complete the monthly Participation report (customer awareness and quoting activities).
  • Increase customer engagement, interactions, and transactions within the branch AOR.
  • Supervise and coach Territory Sales Manager(s) (TSM), Compact Equipment Sales Manager(s)(CESM).
  • Resolve employee issues with the support of Human Resources as needed.
  • Review and manage branch customer account receivables and Power Plan issues.
  • Review financial statements. Ensure margin targets are met for various product lines.
  • Be a good steward of the company’s assets such as inventory.
  • Promote a culture of Safety and High Individual Performance (HiP) to all branch employees.
  • Increase financial performance of the sales department as expressed by the Sales Department Income.
  • Review and approve corporate credit card usage and sales expense reports.
  • Oversee weekly branch whole goods inventory control counts.
  • Provide corporate management with input on inventory needed to reach market share and profitability goals.
  • Ensure sales employee documentation and certifications are completed and submitted,  within the required time frame. 
  • Assist with other duties assigned and directed by corporate management within the framework of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc.’s objectives.
  • Promote a spirit of teamwork between departments and other branches to help reach the company goals.
