About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Water/Sewer Supervisor, this position is responsible for originating or discontinuing service to customers and collecting pertinent information pertaining to specific orders. Most duties performed independently with minimum supervision. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

Requirements

• Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED).
• A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required.
• One (1) year of experience in water works or meter services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Originate or discontinue service to customers.
• Courteously serves customers according to the given nature of order (customer response).
• Responds to water wasting calls and meets with customers about water conservation.
• Trains new employees on proper procedures for handling work orders.
• Investigates and locks taps for theft of service.
• Field verifies accuracy of fire hydrant meter operation.
• Checks for cross connections and proper deduct meter operation during Customer Service Inspection.
• Accurately acquires and records all necessary record information.
• Detects any fallacies while rendering service.
• Reflects proper attitude and actions representing the City of Amarillo.
• Follows oral and/or written orders.
• Assumes the role of Water Supervisor in their absence.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
