About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE To provide reliable testing, calibration, and maintenance of all types of meters and metering equipment ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. Tests, services, maintains, and calibrates all meters, instruments, transformers, and metering equipment Tests all meters by ANSI and CW REMC standards using computer driven calibration equipment Thoroughly cleans and repairs meters as needed Accurately programs all Carroll White REMC meters Ensures all meters are properly sealed after testing Accurately documents information on all tested and. repaired meters Updates and looks up meter related information on the NISC system as needed Edits meter programming software as instructed Installs and repairs instrument metering equipment on de-energized lines Installs wiring for CT and PT metering in accordance with directions on de-energized lines Sets and maintains single-phase Accurately wires sockets for single-phase company mounted meters Effectively repairs any damaged meter bases de-energized Performs meter change outs according to company procedures Assembles primary metering equipment Performs field testing of 200 Amps self-contained metering installations Meets with members and works with them to help them understand energy usage and assists in identifying member side issues Assists with power theft cases as needed Attain and maintain CPR & First Aid certification and Forklift certification Assists the Senior Meter Technician where needed

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Vocational/Technical school diploma or equivalent education in electronics or related field preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Employee shall be trained in, and be familiar with, the safety related work practices, safety procedures and other safety requirements in the safety manual that pertain to their respective job assignments
  • Thorough knowledge of Cooperative policies, practices, and programs
  • Must exhibit a high standard of excellence in following company policies like but not limited to safety and attendance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; frequently required to take action based on own interpretation of policies and practices
  • Ability to interact frequently and effectively with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
  • Must be able to successfully handle emotional stress of working with members and employees who may be irate, angry, despondent, bitter, crying, boisterous or personally insulting
  • Must be proficient in speaking English
  • Ability to effectively use computer, office equipment and specific equipment related to this position
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products related to this position, as well as other software utilized by the REMC
  • Must be able to deal discreetly with confidential information
  • Must participate in and be certified in Annual CPR & Periodic First Aid Training
  • Must possess a Valid Indiana Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Tests, services, maintains, and calibrates all meters, instruments, transformers, and metering equipment
