About The Position

The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Meter Service Worker. This is a Full-Time, Non-Bargaining, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with the starting hourly range of $28.11. Under general supervision, the individual in this position will perform routine work in the execution of Electric and Water Meter service requests.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience as a Meter Reader
• Must possess a valid and current Florida Driver’s License
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in servicing electric and water meters
• Ability to read meters rapidly and accurately
• Ability to accurately perform simple arithmetic computations
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and customers
• Good physical condition

Responsibilities

• Turns water meters and single-phase electric meters on and off upon request of customers or internal requirements
• Obtains check readings upon request and answers customer inquiries in the field with considerable tact
• Changes single phase electric meters on request
• Reports irregularities
• May act as Meter Reader
• May deliver notices to customers
• Performs related work as required
