About The Position

SUMMARY: Reads consumption on meters and records volume used by customers. Turns water on/off as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Walks or drives truck over established route and takes reading of meter dials. Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections. Indicates irregularities on forms for necessary action by servicing department. Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reasons for fluctuations. Turns services on or off as position requires. Uploads and downloads data for billing purposes. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
• Ability to read analyze, and interpret reports and manuals.
• Ability to convey thoughts both orally and in written form.
• Must be able to follow simple instructions.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid Tennessee Driver License
• Ability to stand, walk, climb and/or balance.
• Ability to use hands, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift and/or move 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance and color vision.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience and some computer training is preferred.
• CDL Class A or B Preferred
