Position Summary Read meters through manual data entry and mobile data collection. Perform periodic leak surveys and premise inspections, meter painting, minor leak repairs without service interruption (i.e. tightening a fitting), meter turn-offs, ERT installs, ERT changes and non-payment locks. Report diversions of service and leaks not covered within the scope of this position.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Able and willing to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in the utilities industry
- 1-2 years field work experience
Responsibilities
- Read meters on an assigned route(s) and orders; record readings via mobile, manual and hand-held computer equipment and devices.
- Perform meter inspections, install seals and locks
- Identify and report utility irregularities
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Respond to customer inquiries in the field, as appropriate, regarding utility service policies
- Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing with customers as well as office personnel.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
