About The Position

The Meter Measurement Technician position involves performing various measurement functions related to natural gas, including accuracy tests, pressure control, and SCADA troubleshooting. The technician will be responsible for overhauling gas meters, investigating gas leaks, conducting flow rate calculations, and maintaining records of gas meter maintenance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, along with three years of relevant experience in natural gas measurement or related duties. The technician will also assist districts with gas metering problems and ensure the safe operation of vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • 3 years Natural Gas Measurement experience or related duties.
  • ASME B31Q qualification desired.
  • Knowledge in use of computer systems.
  • Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).

Responsibilities

  • Performs various measurement functions, including diaphragm, rotary, turbine, ultrasonic, and orifice accuracy tests.
  • Changes charts and adjusts pressures to ensure proper pressure control.
  • Completes necessary reports related to measurement functions.
  • Performs SCADA troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration.
  • Overhauls residential and commercial gas meters.
  • Investigates, records, and resolves gas leaks.
  • Conducts calculations of flow rates, capacity, and measurements.
  • Repairs and overhauls regulator and control line devices.
  • Assists districts with problems related to gas metering.
  • Conducts pressure control, operation, and maintenance on commercial or public measurement natural gas facilities.
  • Performs odorization, testing, calibrating, and record keeping for natural gas facilities.
  • Maintains and performs lock up tests on all relief valves and regulators on regulator stations.
  • Maintains and modifies records of gas meter maintenance and history.
  • Activates, checks, balances, and certifies gas meters.
  • Schedules, performs, and maintains odorant readings from all districts.
  • Prepares written proposals, reports, procedures, and required records.
  • Instructs crews in the proper use of tools, instruments, and work equipment.
  • Conducts leak surveys and inspections on corrosion control and visible damage.
  • Performs and schedules routine maintenance of gas meters, regulator, and odorant stations.
  • Prepares special reports in response to internal and external requests.
  • Ensures that all vehicles are maintained and operated in a safe operating condition.
  • May perform miscellaneous duties including line locates, service, and customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
