Job Summary/Description: FOX5, KVVU Las Vegas, is looking for an experienced meteorologist. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated depth of experience in accurate weather forecasting and severe weather coverage on air and on digital platforms.

Requirements

  • An ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience as a broadcast and digital meteorologist. No beginners.
  • The successful applicant's background must include, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree in meteorology or the equivalent.
  • You MUST provide a link to your resume reel as well as be prepared to discuss your past broadcast and online forecast work.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze cutting-edge scientific data, models, and all available relevant information to craft accurate and reliable weather forecasts.
  • Deliver engaging and conversational weather presentations across all platforms, including broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media, ensuring our audience is always informed and prepared.
  • Identify and articulate the "weather story of the day," translating complex meteorological information into clear, concise, and impactful narratives for a cross-platform audience.
  • Accurately forecast and track severe weather events, providing timely and life-saving information to the community.
  • Effectively communicate short and long-range weather insights to the editorial staff, facilitating proactive planning and seamless news integration.
  • Conceptualize and create dynamic weather graphics, leveraging data from various meteorological sources to present engaging and easy-to-understand forecasts.
