About The Position

NBC Universal's Owned Television station in the Philadelphia area, WCAU-TV, is looking for a Meteorologist. The role involves implementing NBC 10's philosophy of being the most accurate and trusted source for disruptive weather on all platforms. The Meteorologist will tell the market's weather stories in a way that connects with and captivates viewers, develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story, and produce compelling graphics, including the use of Augmented reality. The position requires collaboration with the weather team, DIGITAL, and producers to create complete coverage of weather stories, planning and reporting on climate change stories, and supporting the operations of Telemundo62 and NBC10. The Meteorologist will also be responsible for breaking weather cut-ins, using social media during severe events, preparing and posting forecasts for multiple platforms, and being available during dangerous weather conditions. Some live reporting and attendance at community and weather-related events will be required, along with making public appearances on behalf of the station as an ambassador for the company.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years experience as a television meteorologist
• Experience with severe weather coverage
• Degree in meteorology; certificates, seals, and correspondence courses are not acceptable substitutes for more formalized training

Responsibilities

• Plan, report, and develop climate change stories and content
• Support the operations of Telemundo62 and NBC10
• Conduct breaking weather cut-ins
• Use social media daily and especially during severe events
• Prepare and post forecasts for multiple platforms
• Be available at any time dangerous weather conditions occur
• Keep producers and managers informed of upcoming weather conditions for coverage plans
• Participate in live reporting and attendance at community and weather-related events
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station as an ambassador for the company
