As a Meteorologist I, you’ll prepare and communicate accurate, impact-driven forecasts that power AccuWeather’s digital platforms and business solutions used by millions worldwide. Your forecasts will inform users through our award-winning app and website, and support business partners in a variety of industries. Working in a highly collaborative team environment, you’ll analyze evolving weather data, identify areas of concern for severe or hazardous conditions, and contribute to AccuWeather’s legacy of Superior Accuracy™. Meteorologists at every level — from early-career professionals to seasoned experts — share knowledge and expertise through our consensus forecasting approach, ensuring the highest quality output for our global audience. As you grow in your role, you’ll have opportunities to expand your expertise, take on leadership responsibilities such as Shift Coordinator, and contribute to research and innovation projects. The entry-level Meteorologist will join the AccuWeather Forecasting Team at our Global Headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania, beginning January 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Eligibility for professional membership in the American Meteorological Society or National Weather Association.
  • Proven forecasting skills across multiple regions or weather types.
  • Skilled at analyzing and translating complex meteorological data into clear, accurate forecasts and insights.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership abilities in a team-based environment.
  • Availability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • All levels of forecasting experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specialized, impact-driven weather forecasts and products for diverse audiences including media outlets, business clients, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate forecast data, discuss differing analyses, and achieve consensus on predicted weather outcomes.
  • Communicate complex weather scenarios clearly through verbal briefings, written products, and digital forecasts that inform and empower users.
  • Monitor and evaluate new weather data, determine if forecast adjustments are needed, collaborate with colleagues to reach a revised consensus, and update and communicate changes to customers accordingly.
  • Contribute to special projects or operational initiatives such as quality assurance, process improvement, customer support, scheduling, or research and development.
  • Stay current on emerging forecasting tools, models, and techniques to enhance forecast precision and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
