About The Position

At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Metallurgist to join our team in Oxford, AL. The Metallurgist will manage the day to day activities and requirements within the metallurgical lab. Perform metallurgical evaluations and manage the sub-contract operations for outside material testing. Why join us? Requirements

Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering, preferred but not essential
Experience in a similar role, within an educational environment or a related industry i.e. metal processing, melting and/or casting preferably
Experience in working with a quality management system and to quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS 9100
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment, preferred

Responsibilities

Responsible for all master heat testing and tracking of all new and existing heats. Ensure they are approved to customer specific requirements
Disposition non-compliant material as needed
Communicate with manufacturing and quality on the status of master heats
Contribute to problem solving activities within Doncasters as needed
Perform metallurgical evaluations for product qualification and welder qualifications
Contract review as it pertains to metallurgical requirements
