About The Position

At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Metallurgist to join our team in Oxford, AL. The Metallurgist will manage the day to day activities and requirements within the metallurgical lab. Perform metallurgical evaluations and manage the sub-contract operations for outside material testing. Why join us? Requirements

  • Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering, preferred but not essential
  • Experience in a similar role, within an educational environment or a related industry i.e. metal processing, melting and/or casting preferably
  • Experience in working with a quality management system and to quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS 9100
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all master heat testing and tracking of all new and existing heats. Ensure they are approved to customer specific requirements
  • Disposition non-compliant material as needed
  • Communicate with manufacturing and quality on the status of master heats
  • Contribute to problem solving activities within Doncasters as needed
  • Perform metallurgical evaluations for product qualification and welder qualifications
  • Contract review as it pertains to metallurgical requirements
