Where You Will Work Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related Engineering discipline
• Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in Metallurgical and processing analyses
• Able to conduct research and analyze information or considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
• Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
• Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with flotation testing, mass balancing, and data analysis
• Experience with design of experiments
• Familiar with Advanced Process Control systems

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, assists in providing technical support and advice in Metallurgical testing and analysis at assigned site.
• Assists in Metallurgical studies and conducting analyses
• Prepares standard reports on Metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issues
• Assists in reviewing new or enhanced Metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
• Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
• Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment
• Performs other duties as required
