About The Position
ATI is currently seeking a Metallurgical Engineer for our Cudahy, WI location. This role is pivotal in developing materials applications, forged products, and manufacturing-related technologies, leveraging the fundamentals of engineering and material science. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing customer inquiries to assess ATI's capabilities in meeting customer requirements. Collaboration is key, as the Metallurgical Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to troubleshoot and resolve any arising issues. The essential functions of this position include planning and executing technology assessments and development programs aimed at enhancing productivity and quality, improving forged product performance, and developing new products to capture increased market share. The Metallurgical Engineer will provide technical input and metallurgical guidance to the Technology, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams, ensuring proper evaluation and application of materials science fundamentals for process design and production execution. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to develop or qualify new materials that support market growth potential and enhance product performance. The Metallurgical Engineer will also plan and execute production-type special projects under contract with commercial or governmental customers, coordinating project deliverables across various ATI locations and reporting progress to senior leadership in Engineering, Marketing/Sales, and Manufacturing. This position requires assisting Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing in areas requiring metallurgical expertise, including customer visits, proposal preparation, and participation in meetings regarding specific parts or processes.
