We are seeking a strong-willed and results driven Metallurgical Engineer to join our team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, or related field is required.
  • 3+ years in a steel foundry environment is required.
  • Hands-on experience with melting, alloying, Foundry Engineering and casting operations.
  • Strong understanding of ferrous metallurgy (carbon and low-alloy steels, heat treatment, phase transformations).
  • Working knowledge of industry material standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.).
  • Magma or similar casting solidification software experience is preferred.
  • CAD and FEA experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, SEM, microstructure, etc.).
  • Ability to generate concepts and techniques related to the task on hand.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Detail oriented, Ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

Nice To Haves

  • Magma or similar casting solidification software experience.
  • CAD and FEA experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee melting, alloying, and refining operations to ensure compliance with chemical and mechanical specifications.
  • Audit and control Electric Arc Furnace EAF and Argon Oxygen Decarburization AOD processes for compliance with Foundry Engineering specifications and Melt Shop work instructions.
  • Perform and interpret results from spectrometer analysis, tensile testing, hardness testing, and microstructural evaluations.
  • Improve steel grades, heat treatment protocols, and casting practices for better performance, yield, and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis of casting defects (e.g., porosity, inclusions, burn-in) and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA, Foundry Engineering, and production teams on new alloy development and product introductions.
  • Maintain adherence to internal specs and external standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, customer-specific).
  • Record metallurgical test results, process parameters, and recommendations in clear, traceable formats.
  • Provide technical training on metallurgy, process control, and defect prevention to shop floor and QC teams.
  • Conduct failure analysis and write technical reports as required for field failures to support QA team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
