Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree - Materials Science Engineering.
  • 1 year of experience in metallurgical engineering with heat treatment in a metal working manufacturing operation.
  • 1 year of experience with problem-solving in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to analyze data.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of metallurgical experience with heat treatment in a 'bearing' manufacturing operation.
  • 1 or more years of experience in metal working - including machining, heat treating, and grinding.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Metallurgical Laboratory activities and operative Technicians.
  • Responsible for non-destructive testing: UT, XRF, Double Etch, MPI, & Thermo-electric testing.
  • Provide training and maintain certification of employees.
  • Ensure plant metallurgical activities are in compliance with corporate metallurgical standards.
  • Analyze metallurgical data for steel, forgings, and heat treatment.
  • Analyze product and process metallurgical non-conformities, and establish corrective actions.
  • Provide oversight of process control plans for thermal treatment in correlation with process capability and corporate standards. Analyze results periodically and proactively establish preventive/corrective actions.
  • Prepare/submit monthly reports on metallurgical activities for the plant.
  • Prepare/submit quarterly samples for steel audits and coordinate activities related to the samples.
  • Provide strategic direction in utilizing new heat treat technology and equipment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute capital improvement projects designed to improve overall quality, performance, and costs.
