About The Position

As a Plant Metallurgist, you will be instrumental in supporting and driving quality assurance initiatives within our manufacturing environment. This role focuses on analyzing quality data, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with ISO standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically strong, and committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in a quality engineering or quality assurance role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis tools and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with quality inspection tools, SPC, and quality data analysis software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail with a systematic, analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
  • 0-3 years of quality experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing or foundry setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze product quality performance through data collection, root cause analysis, and reporting.
  • Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support internal and external audits, including ISO 9001 compliance efforts.
  • Develop and update quality documentation such as control plans, inspection procedures, and work instructions.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Train operators and production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
  • Maintain statistical process control (SPC) and other quality metrics to monitor trends and drive improvement.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers regarding quality concerns and resolution strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all quality operations.
